The “Faire corps” Project

A research on the body in formal and informal education

“Faire corps” is a project funded by the Erasmus+ programme of the European Union. It consists of a travelling research seminar that brings together 12 trainers of four organisations from Greece, Germany, Spain and France, all active in the field of artistic and popular education. The theme of the seminar is the body in formal and informal education. The research was carried out during three meetings in Valencia, Berlin and Athens between 2019 and 2020. Through workshops and exchanges on our practices, we worked on the role and potential of the body in teaching situations.

The project Faire-corps starts with the statement of a lack of consideration for the body in our training practices.

The all pedagogs of the project have in common to work from the body in different disciplines: theatre, Qi Gong, performance, dance, action art, circus. The project is based on artistic creation as a pedagogical means and as a teaching support.

We consider that any social interaction and any collective situation requires taking into account the bodily information constantly emitted by each person. To do so, it is necessary to know one’s own body and its own bodily functioning. Intercultural exchange, variety and complementarity of approaches will allow us to address questions relating to the place of the body in our teaching practices: our own body, the body of users and/or audiences, the body in social situations.

This project aims to enrich our own practices but also to make the results of our research available to a wider public through the creation of educational videos. Accessible in open source, they can be used as a training support for any pedagogue working on these issues.
