The Power of Joy

One of the most important features of our workshops and discussions was the quest/question on how to encourage the feeling of joy into the pedagogic situation. We unveiled the fact that a student learns more effectively when he enjoys the procedure of learning. Learning through the body is offering a chance towards this direction and in addition it leads to a collective education.

The “giving” and “taking” of pleasure in a class, workshop etc., transforms the educational procedure into a political experience.

The playfulness in pedagogy :
– allows freedom to create and co-create and this freedom permits openness to learn
– constructs collectiveness, cooperation, openness to diversity, to other ways of thinking and moving
– allows the teacher to be present as performer and play with the students thus shifting roles
